About Fasten Health

Fasten On-Prem is an open-source self-hosted electronic medical record (EMR) manager that lets individuals and families consolidate medical history from doctors, hospitals, labs, and connected devices into a single private archive. Built on the FHIR healthcare data standard and written in Go, Fasten ingests records through manual entry and FHIR Bundle uploads exported from patient portals, and stitches them into a unified timeline alongside conditions, medications, allergies, lab results, immunisations, and document attachments. The result is a private, vendor-independent home for medical history that survives changes in providers, insurance, or geographic moves. Note: Fasten On-Prem does not connect to provider EHRs directly — that capability is part of the separate commercial Fasten Connect product.

Common Use Cases

Privacy-conscious patients use Fasten to maintain a unified medical record outside any single healthcare system, sidestepping the data fragmentation that comes from seeing multiple providers across different networks. Family caregivers manage records for partners, children, or ageing parents from one instance, keeping appointments, prescriptions, and lab results coordinated without juggling several patient portals. Travellers and expats build a portable health record that does not depend on continued access to any one health system, useful when moving countries or switching insurance. People with chronic conditions consolidate years of lab values and visit notes for personal review, second-opinion consultations, or sharing with new specialists. Tech-savvy users replace fragmented PDF downloads from patient portals with FHIR-native storage that supports structured queries, exports, and downstream automation. Family historians digitise old records — paper charts, mailed lab reports, scanned films — into a single place alongside FHIR-imported and manually entered records so the full medical timeline is searchable.

  • JWT-based session authentication with configurable issuer key for per-instance secret separation

Why deploy Fasten Health on Hostinger VPS

Running Fasten Health on a Hostinger VPS gives individuals and families a private home for medical records that does not flow through a SaaS health-data provider. Medical history is among the most sensitive personal data anyone manages — diagnoses, prescriptions, mental-health notes, fertility data, and family history all sit in this category — and self-hosting on infrastructure you control keeps it inside your trust boundary by default. Dedicated CPU and disk on a VPS handle FHIR imports, document attachments, and family-scale archives without throttling, and persistent volume storage keeps the encrypted SQLite database durable across container restarts and host upgrades. Combined with Traefik-based HTTPS routing, the public URL is TLS-encrypted on every device while the internal-HTTPS layer is disabled — Traefik handles the edge, Fasten handles the records. The single-binary Go runtime plus encrypted database keep the deployment lean enough to coexist with other self-hosted services on a small VPS, and snapshots of the data volume make backups of the entire family record a single cron job. For people who care about long-term ownership of their medical timeline, a Hostinger VPS is a clean, durable place to host Fasten.
