When using nexos.ai with services such as OpenClaw or n8n on your Hostinger VPS, your requests consume Nexos AI Credits based on the model you select and the number of tokens processed.
In some situations, your credit balance may temporarily become negative. This article explains why it happens and what you should do next.
Why nexos.ai credits can go below zero
nexos.ai calculates usage after the model finishes processing a request. Because token usage is finalized only after a response is generated, the system cannot always stop a request exactly at the moment your balance reaches zero.
If a request starts while you still have credits remaining, but the final cost exceeds your remaining balance, your account may show a negative credit balance.
For example, if you have 0.2 Nexos AI Credit left and a request consumes 0.3 credits, your balance will become -0.1 credits once the request completes.
When a negative balance usually happens
A negative balance is most common when requests consume more credits than expected. This can happen in scenarios such as generating long responses, using higher-cost models, or running multiple requests at the same time.
- Long responses generated by the model can increase output token usage and total credit cost.
- Higher-cost models can consume credits faster, especially for output tokens.
- Multiple workflows or agents running concurrently can reduce your remaining balance quickly.
- Large prompts or long conversation history can increase input tokens and total cost per request.
What happens when your balance is negative
Once your nexos.ai credit balance becomes negative, new AI requests typically stop working until the balance becomes positive again.
When this happens, applications such as OpenClaw or n8n workflows may return errors when they attempt to generate a response through nexos.ai.
How to fix a negative nexos.ai balance
To restore normal operation, you need to add more Nexos AI Credits so your balance becomes positive again.
- Log in to hPanel and open your VPS.
- Navigate to Docker Manager and open the Projects section.
- Find the nexos.ai credits card at the top of the page.
- Click Top up and complete the purchase.

After topping up, your credit balance will update and AI requests will resume.
How to reduce credit usage
If your credits frequently reach zero or go negative, reducing token usage can help control costs. Using lighter models for simple automation tasks and keeping prompts concise can significantly reduce credit consumption.
- Use lower-cost models for basic tasks and high-volume workflows.
- Keep prompts and conversation history as short as possible.
- Avoid running multiple high-cost workflows at the same time when your balance is low.
- Monitor your remaining credits in hPanel and top up before reaching zero.
