Requirements to register a .MA domain

Updated 22 hours ago

The .MA extension is the country code top-level domain (ccTLD) for Morocco, regulated by the National Telecommunications Regulatory Agency (ANRT). It is open to individuals and organizations worldwide who wish to establish a digital presence in Morocco. This guide covers the essential eligibility criteria and documents required by the registry to successfully activate your domain name.

Before you start

  • Ensure that you use valid registrant information that can be officially proven via documentation.
  • Enter the correct contact type during registration. If the registrant is a business, enter the official organization name in the Company name field instead of the First name and Last name fields. If the registrant is an individual, leave the company name field completely empty.
  • Double-check all details before submitting. If the incorrect information or contact type is submitted, the registry requires a paid domain trade to update the contact details later.

Required Documents by Registrant Type

To register a .ma domain, you must submit specific supporting documents based on your status. The verification process typically takes 2-4 weeks on business days.

Registrant Type Required Document
Individual (Morocco) National Identity Card (CIN)
Company (Morocco) Commercial Register (RC – Model 7, issued within the last 3 months)
Foreign holder Passport or Certificate of Incorporation

Complete the Administrative Requirements

The Moroccan domain authority requires specific contact details and usage info for every application. Follow these steps to submit your information:

  • Assign a local contact – Provide an administrative contact who is a natural person residing in Morocco.
  • Describe the domain use – Prepare a short explanation outlining how you intend to use the domain name.
  • Submit for verification – Upload your documents and the purpose description through the official verification form.
  • Notify support – Contact the Hostinger Customer Success team with your intended domain use details so they can forward the files to the registry.

After submitting your documents, your domain status may display as pendingCreate or serverHold in WHOIS lookup tools. This means the domain is currently inactive and waiting for validation. The domain will automatically activate as soon as the verification team confirms your files meet the ANRT guidelines.

NOTES

  • WHOIS privacy protection is not available for .MA domains. Registrant contact details are publicly visible in the registry database.
  • Submit your identification documents as soon as possible to avoid activation delays. If documents are not submitted within 14 days of registration, the domain will be suspended. If files remain unverified after this period, the registry may release or permanently delete the domain name.
  • Suspension can only be lifted if the required documents are submitted before the registry releases the domain.
  • .MA domains follow the standard ccTLD refund policy. If the registry deletes a domain for failing to provide documentation, the purchase is not eligible for a refund.
