How to register a .be domain at Hostinger

Purchase and activate a Belgium country-code domain to establish your online presence and reach your target audience

Updated 2 weeks ago

The .be extension is Belgium’s official country-code top-level domain (ccTLD), managed by DNS Belgium. It is open to anyone worldwide — there is no residency requirement — making it an ideal choice for businesses, freelancers, and organizations targeting the Belgian market.

Characteristics of .be domains

  • Domain length: 2–63 characters.

  • Registration period: 1 year (minimum and maximum).

  • Transfer lock (EPP): Supported.

  • IDN and DNSSEC support: Available.

How to register a .be domain

Step 1 – Search for your domain

Log in to hPanel and navigate to Domain Checker. Type your desired .be domain name in the search bar and click Search. If the domain is available, click Add to cart.

Step 2 – Complete the purchase

In your cart, select the 1-year registration period. Choose your preferred payment method and complete the transaction.

Step 3 – Complete the domain registration

After payment, the domain appears on your hPanel home page with a Pending Setup status.

  1. Click Setup next to the domain order.

  2. Enter accurate contact details for the domain owner (name, email address, physical address, and phone number).

  3. Confirm the details to finalize the registration.

Use valid and accurate contact details. DNS Belgium may trigger a registrant verification process if the information appears suspicious, and inaccurate details can lead to domain suspension.

Step 4 – Verify your registrant contact details

After registration, a verification email is sent to the registrant’s email address. Check your inbox for an email from an address ending in @hostingerdomains.com (ensure you check your Spam or Trash folders as well). Click the verification link and follow the instructions. Allow up to 15 minutes for the verification to apply.

The domain must be verified within 15 days to remain active. If you do not receive the email, navigate to hPanel → DomainsManage and click Resend email.

Domain activation and verification

After completing the registration and verification steps, the domain typically becomes active within 4 hours. However, full DNS propagation may take up to 24 hours to complete worldwide.

DNS Belgium registry verification

In some cases, DNS Belgium may independently trigger an identity verification procedure if a registration flags specific parameters. While this verification is in progress, the domain will not resolve.

  • If your .be domain stops working after registration, look for a notification email from DNS Belgium in your inbox.
  • Click the verification link to validate your identity and contact details.

Once your identity is validated, the registry unsuspends the domain in approximately 2 hours, and it becomes fully functional within 24 hours following DNS propagation. You can find more information about this here: DNSbelgium Registrant Verification Process.

If registry-initiated verification is not completed within 14 days, the domain is deleted and transferred to the .be Registry. Once deleted, it cannot be updated or restored through hPanel.
