Integrated backend FAQs
What does "integrated backend" actually mean?
Every website or app has two sides: the part people see – buttons, forms, interactive elements – and the system working behind the scenes to make it all function. That behind-the-scenes system handles things like storing data, managing user accounts, sending emails, or saving uploaded files.
With Horizons, that system is already built into the platform. Instead of connecting external tools or configuring third-party services, you simply describe what you want your project to do – and Horizons sets up everything it needs to work, automatically.
Learn more about Horizons' no-code backend.
Do I need any technical experience to use this?
Not at all. The integrated backend is designed for people who want complex functionality – like user logins and stored data – without the complexity of setting it up. Just describe what you want, and let Horizons AI build your full-stack app for you.
What can I build with the integrated backend?
Anything that needs to do more than just look good. Some popular examples include membership apps for businesses, booking and reservation tools, websites with lead capture forms that auto-send confirmations, portfolio platforms where users can upload their own work, and internal dashboards for managing business data.
How do I get started?
Just start a new Horizons project, describe what your project needs, and Horizons full-stack AI builder takes it from there.
If you're new to Horizons, a good first prompt might be something like: "Build me a membership site where users can register, log in, and access exclusive content." From there, you can keep refining by simply chatting with AI until it's exactly what you had in mind.
The integrated backend is automatically enabled when your project needs it – so there's nothing extra to switch on. During Beta, it's also included at no additional cost.
Can I migrate my existing project that uses an external database?
Unfortunately, migrating a project that was built with an external backend – for example, Supabase – isn't supported at this time. To use the integrated backend, you'll need to start a new project in Horizons.
