LibreTranslate is a fully self-contained machine translation server powered by the Argos Translate neural library. It exposes a simple REST API and optional web UI for translating text across multiple languages — with no dependency on Google, DeepL, or any other commercial translation provider. Automatic language detection, file translation, and batch operations are all included out of the box.
Self-hosting LibreTranslate on your VPS eliminates per-character translation costs and ensures sensitive documents — legal filings, medical records, internal communications — are processed entirely within your own infrastructure. Rate limits, character limits, and web UI access are all configurable at deployment.
